Phonics Town contains includes over 350 words, all of them illustrated and professionally pronounced.
Children begin their journey to literacy by learning to break down words into their phonetic sounds. This allows them to read all the words here and many many more that contain the same sounds.
As a teacher, I designed and developed Phonics Town to be an app I know my students will use and enjoy.
The words are separated into six levels corresponding to different kinds of sounds and words. They are initial sounds, cvc words, beginning blends, ending blends, long vowels and ‘magic e’.
The app can be used as a complete course. Learners progress through all the levels with new words and sounds being added automatically as others are repeated successfully.
Or, select the words and sounds that you want your learner to practice. An ideal supplement to schoolwork or other phonics courses.
Practice for a few mins per day to build, reinforce and solidify phonics skills. Each word is introduced in a simple and easy way. At the beginning a learner will only need to match the letter shapes whilst hearing the word sounded out. A variety of mini games are used which include phonemes, whole words, pictures and sounds and practicing all of these will lead to all the words here and any others that have the same sounds.
The mini games all require active engagement. So many apps are passively consumed but Phonics Town ensures success by being designed around input from the learner.
I don’t claim this app is a replacement for other forms of education. Reading and writing and school and with parents is still vital for children. But I am sure that Phonics Town is a great supplement and can help give any child a boost.
As this app is aimed at children, there are no ads. Privacy is important too. No personal data is used, collected or sent off the device.
A one-time in app purchase unlocks all content and all future updates. I do need to eat so I hope you’ll agree it’s worth the price.
